Hi, I'm using the DMC.2143 controller and the SMD-20620 with two stepper motors. When I send the BG command from the DMC Smart Terminal, or the GalilTools software, I can see that the programs is runnig. Using a sample program for steppers, the axis reference positions and the auxiliar position start to increment but at the same time the axis position error does it too. I tried some changes in the program but still have the problem. Because the axis encoder or the motor position do not change, I'm guessing the problem might be in the motors. Does someone know what would it be the problem?

Hi Irvin A.G.G.,

What type of stepper motors are you using? If they are bipolar steppers you will want to make sure your motor phases are wired correctly. Additionally, also check to confirm the correct current gain is set with the AG command. You should set a gain such that you have sufficient current per phase to each of the stepper motors.
