I've been using Galil under Camsoft for a VERY long time. Got two 1760 boards, one in each computer completely setup to just swap out the entire computer if there's a problem. It has run so well for so long, I've forgot almost everything about setup etc. The board model should tell you about how long this has run.

Well, the control computer died - won't boot anymore - and I see swelled up capacitors on the MB. So its DOA.

Put in the complete spare computer and the control just acted up terribly. Two axis tried to run away. The other two axis jumped and tripped excess position error. The MPG ( hooked to axis 6) would not work. I thought I had Camsoft downloading all setup parameters when it starts. I must be wrong here.

Swapped the Galil 1760 board from the dead computer into the spare and all is well. We're making parts again. :)

OK, my question, how do I find out what's different between the two Galil cards? AND how do I completely back up the good one?

It is nice to hear that whatever event caused the mother board capacitors to swell up most likely did not damage your primary card.

There is a feature in the SETUP32 program that will allow you to upload, download and save burned parameters to disk. This software essentially backs up and restores a controller. For newer controllers, you could use GalilSuite to provide this functionality. The SETUP32 software can be found at the following link.
